Who Are We?

“Chuppot” is part of “Hashgacha Pratit”, an organization that challenges the monopoly of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel through the provision of private religious services. The organization was established in Jerusalem in 2012 by Rabbi Aaron Leibowitz, and successfully led the struggle to open the kosher food market in Israel to competition.

In March, 2018, our kashrut division moved to Tzohar Food Supervision, and “Hashgacha Pratit” branched out to focus on weddings independent of the Chief Rabbinate.

As of today, we have over 16 rabbis who conduct wedding ceremonies, and we provide service to over 100 couples a year that are forced to get married without the authorization of the Chief Rabbinate – or choose to do so.
